IESG students win IES Eurovision Song Contest

This year’s edition of the IES Eurovision Song Contest took place in Eskilstuna. There were eleven schools from the organization taking part in the event, and twenty different entries singing in Spanish, French, and German. It was a fantastic show organized by the Modern Foreign Languages teachers, with Ms. Barbara Bergström and Mr. Peter Fyles as VIP audience. Read more

International Mathematics Competition Success for IES Gävle Students

The International Mathematics Competition is known as UKMT. It is taken each year by about 250,000 students from different schools across the world. It requires students to answer 25 multiple choice Mathematics questions in 1 hour without the use of a calculator. The questions are high level questions, similar to Gymnasiet standard, and are written in English Language. In February 2012, some of our students took this competition. Only the top students in the overall competition across the world are awarded Certificates by UKMT. Read more

It has become an annual day of domination for IESG Senior. This year's version was no different, as IESG claimed the lion's share of medals yet again. In the four individual competitions Linus Rhodin (9D), and Carl Christoffersson (8D) both took home gold in every event, with Axel Nyman (7E) taking three golds, and a bronze, Elias Hägglund (7B) taking three silvers, Robin Ernesäter (9A) taking four silvers, Emelie Hansson (8B) taking three silvers and a bronze, Anna Hägglund (8F) one silver and three bronze, and Anna Sjöholm (7B) three gold. Chess Finals Beckon For Fourth Graders

Students will be hoping for a check mate when they head to the national final of the Schackfyran competition. Classes 4F from Internationella Engelska Skolan Gävle and 4F from Internationella Engelska Skolan Eskilstuna will both be going forward to the chess contest’s finals in Västerås in June. On Monday, April 2nd a happy group of English school students went to Hofors for the school-dm swimming competition. Everyone was very excited and some were a little nervous. Once the races began the cheering erupted at every opportunity. This led to great results. The English School, both Junior and Senior, took 25 gold medals: 19 silver and 10 bronze! In lagcapen the Senior students had a grand slam with team one taking the gold, team two the silver and three team the bronze medal! The Junior students finished with a respectable silver medal. Students Score In Football Tournament

A national football tournament saw eight Internationella Engelska Skolan schools put forward 16 teams to compete. The seven-aside contest saw children in years four and five from Internationella Engelska Skolan’s schools throughout Sweden compete to win the Turf Moor Cup for Boys and the Turf Moor Cup for Girls.
